چکیده

II The last reaction investigated in this work was the oxidation of isopropanol. In this case a model was proposed based on three main reactions: Electrochemical IrO2 oxidation to IrO3, chemical oxidation of isopropanol via IrO3, and chemical decomposition of IrO3 to IrO2. The effectiveness factor, for the electrochemical reaction seemed not to correlate with the loading, whereas for the chemical one, it diminished with the loading.

Tantalum carbide as a novel support material for anode electrocatalysts in polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolysers

Iridium oxide (IrO2) currently represents a state of the art electrocatalyst for anodic oxygen evolution. Since iridium is both expensive and scarce, the future practical application of this process makes it essential to reduce IrO2 loading on the anodes of PEM water electrolysers. In the present study an approach to utilising a suitable electrocatalyst support was followed. Of the materials se...

Effect of Sputtered Film of Platinum on Low Platinum Loading Electrodes on Electrode Kinetics of Oxygen Reduction in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

-Localization of Pt electrocatalyst by sputter deposition of a thin film (5OOA) on the front surface of a fuel cell electrode containing a supported electrocatalyst (20% Pt/C, 0.4mgcm-* loading) has been known to exhibit higher fuel cell performance as compared to that on the electrode without the sputtered flm. This study compares the electrode kinetic parameters, electrochemically active surf...

Rapid Characterization of Oxygen-Evolving Electrocatalyst Spot Arrays by the Substrate Generation/Tip Collection Mode of Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy with Decreased O2 Diffusion Layer Overlap

A simple approach for the screening of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalyst arrays by scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) in the substrate generation/tip collection (SG/TC) mode is described. The methodology is based on the application of a series (9−10 replicates) of double-potential steps to a catalytically active substrate electrode, which is switched between potentials whe...

Kinetic study of ethanol and methanol electro-oxidation on Pd-vulcan XC-72R/Cu electrocatalyst in alkaline media

Abstract In this study , palladium nano-particles were electro deposited galvano - statically on carbon black powder (Vulcan XC -72R). The catalytic activity for electro - oxidation of ethanol and methanol in alkaline media were studied by cyclic voltammetry and linear sweep voltammetry techniques. The results indicated that the electro-oxidation of ethanol and methanol strongly depends o...

Examining and calculation of non-classical in the solutions to the true elastic cable under concentrated loads in nanofilm

Due to high surface-to-volume ratio of nanoscale structures, surface stress effects have a significant influence on their behavior. In this paper, a two-dimensional problem for an elastic layer that is bonded to a rigid substrate and subjected to an inclined concentrated line load acting on the surface of the layer is investigated based on Gurtin-Murdoch continuum model to consider surface stre...
